Speaking the Truth

April 26, 2019

I wrote this post a year ago and never hit the "publish post" button. It's embarrassing, actually. A post about speaking the Truth, and I was afraid to post it.

This week, this post came back to my mind. While the situation I have recently been called to act upon won't be a discussion for a blog post, the lesson I am learning remains the same... Speak Truth. Always. Without hesitation. (Even if it means there will be a lot of life change that happens as a result of the stance you take.) I can only think that the opportunities for speaking Truth will become more and more rampant in the future.

Here's that post I never submitted from February 2018:

Parenting takes on a whole new meaning when you realize you have to practice what you preach.

Recently I was presented with a situation that should have been an easy one: speak Biblical Truth or remain silent. Seems like a no-brainer.

If there’s one thing I can say about myself, it’s that I avoid confrontation like I would the plague. I’m not saying this is a good quality, but it’s one I’ve mastered quite well.

As I debated my response, an overwhelming thought permeated my soul:

If you are presented with an opportunity to speak Biblical Truth, speak Biblical Truth … always … without hesitation.

I teach my children to always speak the Truth. I want my children to stand up for their faith. I want my children to be bold … not obnoxious … but courageous.

How can I teach them this if I’m not willing to do the same?

When my silence in situations can be taken as agreement with something I know to be in opposition to God’s Truth, I have to speak up.

So what if it’s uncomfortable? Who cares if I’m ridiculed? It’s fine if others don’t agree.

I wish I could say it was easy. I wish I could say I speak up more often than I remain silent. But, I know I have two little ones looking to me as an example. And that, my friends, is reason enough for me.

Today, if you are presented with an opportunity to speak Biblical Truth, do it … without hesitation.
