I admit, I’ve had a hard time writing anything over the last few weeks. My heart has been heavy. My mind has been full. My soul has been weary.

But then, this picture from Friday ...

Weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning. - Psalm 30:5

Even in the midst of hardship, joy is there. Sometimes it might be buried beneath a mountain of worry, mingled within a world of sorrow, hidden in the stillness of loneliness. But, deep in the shadows, joy remains.

This picture tells so many stories. Breakfast after a successful parent teacher’s conference at school. A town that is a pleasant place to call home. A son who loves to give “huggles.” A husband who knows the value of stopping for breakfast with his wife. A celebration of meeting another deadline.

I see love. I see laughter. I see hope. I see peace. I see security. I see a future. I see joy.

Not every day brings joy. Some days bring sadness. Some days bring pain. Some days bring trials you never dreamed possible. Some days, just sending your kids off to school brings immense anxiety.

No matter what you may be going through today, please know, if you know Jesus, there is joy in the journey.

In the midst of loneliness, there is a Friend.

In the midst of sorrow, there is joy.

In the midst of uncertainty, there is peace.

In the midst of fear, there is security.

In the midst of pain, there is healing.

Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow. But one day. Joy will come flooding back again. Look for it. Pray for it. Choose it.

And, if you don’t know that joy that only Jesus can bring, please, don’t go another day living in the depths of despair. Find someone who knows Him – I guarantee they will want to share that joy with you.
